Picnic on the Swan river bank

Last evening we went to a lecture by A C Grayling in UWA entitled 'Ideas that Matter' - a subject on which he has written a book. Prof Grayling is the author of many books on philosophy and lectures on the topic in London. Before the lecture we had a picnic on the bank of the Swan river close to the city.

Not a kookaburra!

I stand corrected by Rosaleen! This is a Caspian Tern - the largest tern in the world. (Looks like a kookaburra though!) http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/caspian_tern/id

Our first visitors arrive

John Mulhare and his sister-in-law Mags arrived yesterday. We organised a nice warm day for them - 42 degrees - the hottest day this year! They successfully negotiated Perth's famous sniffing dog!

Biking again

For this morning's bike ride we went north along the coast to Ocean Reef boat harbour. Its not as busy as Hillary's to the south of us. Its a lovely ride along the pathway.
