Sad day in WA

Malcolm Douglas, the owner of the Broome Crocodile Park and legendary Australian outback adventurer was tragically killed this morning in an accident with his truck. A very sad day indeed.

Violin class

Finn and Oliver have joined the STEAA(WA) Saturday group classes and are having fun. Mags and Magda look as though they are enjoying the classes too - Mags helped Finn as Nadine was at work this weekend. Not so long ago Mags was a tiny violinist too ... maybe I can find those photos?

Tranby House afternoon tea

We went to the lovely Tranby House on the river bank today for afternoon tea - very nice. The house itself is full of history. In the evening George and I went to see Major Minor Marlene - the music of Marlene Dietrich - 'downstairs at the Maj'. An excellent performance by a very accomplished singer - she maintained the persona of the legend throughout 80 minutes of performance.

Broome crocs

Val and I went to see feeding time at the Broome crocodile farm. This is a great facility for housing nasty crocs that get caught in the northern regions of WA. Its also a facility for studying and protecting the species. There were some rather nasty looking crocs there.

This one flung itself at the wire fence as I arrived and broke its tooth! - hence the bloody gum!

in spite of this warning an idiot drunk jumped into one of the croc enclosures recently - luckily he escaped intact!

the keeper threw a ball at a croc. It quickly grabbed it and dragged it under the water - took about two seconds to drown it.

the crocs came out of the water to get food from the keeper.
