George is in Heaven

Dear friends,
With great sadness in my heart, I must tell you that George has fought his final battle with his illness. He fought bravely, but, sadly, he slipped away to the great sleep on Thursday, December 15th at 8.30 am, Perth time. The Mt Lawley Golf Club flag flew at half mast in honour of him.
We have composed a memorial web page for him where you can leave tributes.

We will farewell him on Tuesday December 29th at 4.00 pm, Perth time, at Karrakatta Cemetery. Perth. HIs brother Peter has come to represent his family.
Farewell my beloved George.
May you rest in peace until we meet again.

Ladies golf

Monday was a big day for golf here. The WA Ladies Golf Assoc organised a Progressive Day where we started with brekkie at 7.30 am in Yokine golf club and played 9 holes there. Then on to Mt Lawley for lunch and another 9 holes. Teams of 4 from many clubs took part. My team, in spite of - or maybe because of - inebriation, took the prize for the Mt Lawley teams!

Jacaranda Golf

This is the 13th hole in Mt Lawley, under the most beautiful Jacaranda tree. The green is in the shape of the map of Australia and is called 'Commonwealth'. Each hole has an individual name.

Winning at golf again

Had a great score at golf last Thursday - 69 nett - par is 74. I had 6 pars on the front nine and three more on the back. I had only 11 putts on the front nine and 17 putts on the back nine with a 4-putt and a 3-putt thrown in. It was easy on the day!

Drama today

We had drama on our road today when our neighbour reversed his car into a telegraph pole opposite his house and brought down several wires which lay 'live' across roads. It happened as I was teaching two little boys and they were highly excited when the emergency services - fire engines and tow trucks came. we had no power for several hours and since it was 36 degrees we were in need of our air-con! 'Twas hot!
