Opera in the Park

Carole and Don, Hugh's parents, arrived on Saturday. We went to see WA's Opera Company and WASO perfom Die Fledermaus in the Supreme Court Gardens on Saturday evening - with several thousand other folk! It was a brilliant production - in spite of the challemge of very strong winds the performers put in a trojan effort and the result was great fun for all. Sung in English - with English subtitles (this is Australia!) the characters included references to local places and events and this added to the hilarity at times. When part of the set fell apart and had to be removed by stage hands - as the plot continued - we realised just how difficult it was for the whole cast to carry on in the wind. A great evening out!
