A new beginning ...

Dear Blogfan, Welcome to the new blog. To celebrate our arrival in this lovely country I have decided to begin anew. Since we arrived here in mid-September, we have been enjoying a new quality of life. Golf is playing a large part. We are in the process of joining Mt Lawley golf club. It is a very pretty, walkable course with lots of lovely colourful native Australian trees and shrubs that can soothe the soul even as yet another errant shot dives into dense bushland! And the natives are friendly and welcoming - delighting in teasing us about our accents! Many of them have Irish heritage and have visited the emerald isle. Amazingly, they all report having had lovely weather! They are getting used to my winning the ladies competitions on a regular basis! We have moved into a retirement village in the northern suburbs near the ocean. By coincidence, it is in the area of Mullaloo where we stayed on our trips here in previous years. The village offers many facilities that I will tell you about. Its an easy lifestyle. Our apartment is on the first floor, arrived at via an outside stairway. It has balconies facing east and west. There is always a pleasant breeze from the ocean. The weather has been varied. Mostly its pleasantly warm and sunny, averaging in the mid-twenties. We get the occasional 'cold' day (anything below 20) and one day when the temp. went to 39! That was a shockeroo to even the locals! We are promised lots more of that to come ... we cant wait! We've even had a rainy day or two. Apologies for the lack of bloggery in the past week or so. This was due to two factors: the busy nature of our retirement life in Perth and the fact that I ran out of capacity on the Picasa photo site. I have solved the latter problem by buying 10g of storage from Picasa. The former 'problem' has no signs of being 'cured'! So .... on with the latest stories from Oz ....
