Its the annual putt-putt competition in St Ives. I was pitted againts a wily opponent who knows all about the intricacies of this menancing course - she ought to - her husband designed and built the course. He (Dick) was on-hand to scrutinise and referee the game between Muriel and me. Good putting technique was of no use - one needed tactics and cunning! I had not enough of either and lay 2 down after 16 holes. Nevermind, I get another chance to play again in the first round of the Plate - for beaten players in the first round.
