Tuesday November 3rd is the day that will stop Australia as The Melbourne Cup is run. There will be parties and celebrations all over the country. In Mt Lawley golf club preparations are on stream. We will play 9 holes at 8.15 am, followed by dressing up and champagne reception prior to lunch, which seems to be mostly of a liquid nature! In the pre race 'calcutta' (draw) George has drawn Allez Wonder (to be ridden by a female rider) and I have Harris Tweed. Cost is $10 each. We wait in wonder ...
