Went to the concert hall on Wednesday night to hear the ACO. They were great. The leader (Helena Rathbone) plays on a 1759 Guadagnini violin. The principal 'cellist plays a Giuseppi Guarneri cello from 1729. Both instruments are on loan. Regretfully, their musical director, Richard Tognetti, was not with them on this occasion.
