Broome Golf Club

Of course we found a golf club in Broome! We didn't play. It has a beautiful view over the ocean. Its an eighteen-hole course.

Tiger shark watch

You have to watch out for tiger sharks here - its a rugged landspae around Gantheaume Point - dinosaur footprints have been found in the rocks here. They are now in the local museum. Very interesting to see.

The earth in this region is a vivid red colour - as a result of iron ore oxidisation.

Sammy the Dragon

The opening ceremony of the festival was the waking of Sammy the Dragon. It was very exciting for all kids - young and old!

Flying the flag

As part of the festival there was a Parade of Nations. We found an Irish flag which I carried in the parade. George carried the Croatian flag - well there werent' very many people there from Croatia that afternoon - and he had visited Croatia once!

Festival weekend in Broome

We went to Broome to attend the 'Opera under the Stars'concert - but we also got into the middle of the annual Festival of the Pearl - the Shinju Matsuri festival.
