We holidayed with Val, Vera's cousin. She has two children and three grandchildren living in Broome. Broome is the most laid back place you could hope to find. It is populated by the most relaxed people - many of whom have run away from 'normal' life. It is a fascinating place - much of its wealth has come for the Pearl industry. There are several shops selling the most exquisite pearls - the most famous being 'Willie Creek' pearls. The future of Broome will evolve around the mining industray as the area prepares to receive gas from the massive new Gorgon development offshore.
